The bass is so fucking tight and it sounds so aggressive you can almost feel the steel. Guitars switch between repeated riffs of single notes and broadband walls of sound. Vocals are recitative and reduced. The whole sound in general is minimalized to not more than absolutely necessary for the song.

Fitness are to be received from a wave and punk point of you. This gets clear when they quote Mittagspause’s classic “innenstadtfront” on “wachabloesung”. And from a punk point of view (what other perspective could I possibly have…) I like the way they take what punk and wave were in the 80s and take totally different paths from thereon to land at some place that is too intelligent for plain rock and too dodgy for ordinary punk yet still too dirty and pissed off to be indie. Guess many people would have problems to dance to this because of the unstraight beats but well people don’t dance to The Locust either and I love to dance to them. So if you like Genetiks or basses that sound amazing you should really check this record out. Bonus points for the pretty folded cover with a lot of pink!  [jan]
