Plemo
Plemo
exzess express - lp/cd
audiolith
It’s funny how the same things get different names every year. Plemo is one of these phenomena. Once electropunk, once electroclash or something and now it’s new rave. Yeah, whatever…

In some ideological way Plemo is and has always been punk. Once again he did it all by himself accompanied only by close friends and of course it is once again Audiolith to release the record. This new rave thing is funny anyway because at the same point of time it is used in Germany and the UK for two whole different things. Anway it is hard to label Plemo on this recording as he is jumping wildly from drawer to drawer. This records covers a large variety of electronic music genres from electropop to dancefloor smashers driven by hard beats.

It is this variety that makes this record so good. Where other electronic musicians’ records sound like mere dj sets Plemo created a real album with real songs some of which even almost use schemes like verse-chorus-verse. A good listening album with good ipod songs like “djdj” that also contains some dancefloor diamonds like “wir raven” with a stolen 80s riff or “flashlight” that has already been released on a limited 7”. And when Das Bierbeben’s Jessica Dorsten is gasping the vocals on the closing title track I can’t help but smile. Chapeau, Mr. Plemo!  [jan]
