I still wonder if Monty Burns know that there is already a band called Mr. Burns that plays music not so unfamiliar to their own style as well as a Bremerhaven-based hip hop mc called Monty Burns, too. And is it coincidence that their logo is not too different from that of Hot Water Music…
This Burns band hails from Witten and plays some sort of hard rock. To be honest: I don’t get this. I don’t understand what this band wants to tell me. Technically everything is fine. Good, bass-leaning production, everything in tune, pop compatible hooklines and everything, but in the end it is just middle of the road rock music in my ears. Of course this is more individual than playing youth crew hardcore or melodic death metalcore but I can’t imagine who this band is making this for. Is there a whole subculture that I don’t know nothing about? Or is this the logic next step from Gluecifer and Turbonegro on? Well, all their tourdates are for the Ruhrpott area. So maybe it is something very specific for the Pott…
I’m sure this record will find its target group. It is well done but honestly I will never ever put into my cd player again. Sorry…
