Does Martin Büsser know about this record? I mean he’s cheering about all this anti-folk and new weird america thing and here we have this totally awesome and very similar music quite in front of his own doorsteps.
A Thousand Fuegos is more or less Matthias Peyker with a little help from his friends every now and then. He is also responsible for the beautiful artwork of this output. A real multi talent. The music you can hear on this thing is more or less folk music with more or less songs built around an acoustic guitar skeleton. They are all very melancholy and rather dark like a lonely log cabin in a dusky, post acid rain needle forest. In a way it reminds me of older Modest Mouse but in a lofi, nonrock version.
It is a little sad that the lyrics aren’t attached somewhere but I guess if I listened carefully enough I could understand pretty much everything anyway. They’ll play with Animal Collective in Vienna on Sunday. I wish I could be there… Very good and inspiring record. I hope the announced vinyl will really come anytime soon.
