Trust # 113
Trust # 113
hardcore zine
68 pages, A4
Once again I made the mistake and bought the Trust zine because there were a few names of on the cover of bands I'd really liked to know more about. To make it short. The Zann interview is mediocre and the Modern Life Is War interview is really bad but at least I know by now that this band does not have the least bit to tell. Good band though but nothing behind... The artwork is still bad and there are too many photos in low resolution.

But there is also light in this issue, first of all the interview with Ian McKaye about his new band (do you call a two piece band?!?) The Evens. This one is really well done and Ian has a lot of intersting things to tell. Then there is a four e-mail corespondence between one of the Trusties and Lars of Escapado about their interview in the last issue that really, really sucked ass from the Trust side. Seldom I read such a bad and tendentious interview. But the fact that there is so much bad to say about the zine doesn't overlap that these guys really try to be different and not to make just another zine like thousands did before. They often do interviews with bands and persons (yes, more than music!) that are rarely interviewed in other publications. I do really reward this as I reward the many slating reviews. How much I hate review section where every record is at least okay. The Trust-crew actually writes when a reord sucks and this honesty is rare in days where people do zines just for free cds and guest list spots. But then it pisses me off that the megastupid macho connection Barcode-Backfire gets a good review and the latest records of antisemitic, bastards like Rifu (remember US-flag as swastikas and stripes) or Children of Fall (remember „Burn Israel Burn“ on one member's shirt and btw their own new shirt with a burning New York skyline including the WTC. How stupid and unsensitive can one be? There were people dying! Real people!) get hyped to heaven. Please inform yourselves about the background of a band before you write a review. If you just checked their websites you would have found some indications for them being unkosher. Good music doesn't make a good band. More than music, remember? [jan]
