First thing I thought was „oh no, not another German thrashcore release!“ There has been so many of them in the past few years and only few of them were really good. Thankfully this split 7” is one of these exceptions.

Alarmstufe Gerd got a stupid name but excellent lyrics! They play ragingly fast thrashcore and put no less than eight(!) songs on their side. Lyrical topics range from graffiti over veg(etari)anism and antisexism to a song against Germany and an ironic one pro cops (“bullen sind cool”). Closing chapter is a good cover of The Italian Stallion’s “the unseen homocaust”. You may argue that it’s way to early to put out a cover song of such a relatively new band. But on the other hand: Why not? If you like thrash, you’ll love this!

The Omnipresent Disease like their songs a little longer and so they “only” got four tracks on their side. Their style is a little more early 80s and they are not always full throttle but vary their speed a little more. Vocals are very pissed off and the overall sound is dirty as hell. I like that. Absolute highlight with excellent fingerpointing compatible backings is “cdu sick of you”.

A colourful artwork along with all lyrics and liner notes complete the good impression. Thrash ahoy!  [jan]
