Bombenalarm
Bombenalarm
buried alive - lp
unsociable
This record is awesomely beautiful with its magnificent gatefold cover artwork and the white vinyl with the red labels. The music is pretty much the same as on their debut 7“ - raw punk with a d-beat edge, maybe a bit less raw and more elaborate. The lyrics are codeswitching between german and english just as they please and the lead guitars howl like werewolfs getting kicked in the balls.

My personal favourite is the first song on the b-side „stukas über dem oberbayern“, a serious singalong hit for your next mixtape! All in all their music now is not complete raging like there was no tomorrow but quite often also generates some sort of end of days melancholy finding expression in midtempo parts with harmonys reminding on early Muff Potter (well at least that's what I feel...). They seriously emancipated themselves from being the Hammerhead clone many people have called them (and they maybe never were...). To be honest I am not blasted away by this one. There are some really great songs (e.g. „doomed“) on it but in the long run there are too little highlights. I had expected more, maybe more than a simple raw punk band like Bombenalarm can offer... At last the artwork, the few hits and the more than average rest make this record a good investment for everyone into crust, d-beat and so on stuff, but I think most of those will buy it anyway no matter what an idiot like me without a single Discharge record in his record box is writing...

ps: while writing this fucking review I missed a battery for my laptop on e-bay that sold for less than 17€. These things normally sell for at least 100€... Fuck it! [jan]
