So how come Nein Nein Nein could get through to me and give me back my faith in punk? One thing might by the shortness of the songs – more than 20 songs in less than 30 minutes, that’s how I like it! Then there is this youthful, vitalistic, idealistic power that they seem to overflow of. Finally there are these great lyrics that come along as a mix of anti-everything-that-sucks and personal accounts about whatsoever. The music is as simple as can be. Riff oriented, quite fast punk (not deutschpunk! not punkrock!) without useless schnickschnack. But it is this simplicity that bears its power. If you wanted a catchy phrase with namedropping I’d say: Katzenstreik meets Reagan Youth. I guess, one crass thing to be announced is that this record came out less than a year after the first band rehearsal. How good will they be after another year??? Only point of criticism: use less distortion! It might sound even better!

There is always this duel in my heart between straight up hc/punk and artsy art shit stuff and who’s on top might really change in shifts of five minutes. I know that this division I make up there is an artificial one and I should better care about more important things and like what I want to like but I tend to systematize and categorize everything. Fucking sociology! Maybe it is a sign of recovery that I am currently listening to little more than Nein Nein Nein and The Moldy Peaches rotationally…

Thank you for this record and show up in Hamburg for some live appearance soon! Last words: “eliten fördern” is the best song about the whole uni strikes and fee debates so far (in a better world the students would chant it on the burning barricades in front of squatted campuses!), the artwork is great and the title of this record is as sad as true as fucking awesome!  [jan]
