With both bands it is amazing what kind of noises the particular guitarist is producing with his guitar. If this was a contest you would have to split the rating into at least two factors. In terms of weirdness and “oh my god what are they doing?” the Oaklandians would clearly win but in terms of better songs and listening pleasure the trophy would go to Eniac. All those who say this ain’t pop enough should better listen to the fucking lead guitars! I also prefer the Eniac lyrics. Maybe it is because English isn’t as little their mother tongue as it is mine. The Exp. Dent. School lyrics are to metaphorical for me. I don’t get the point. I don’t know what they are trying to tell me, sorry…

But in this case it is the contrast that makes the whole. Both bands are unconventional in their way but still they are very different from each other. And thank punk music is no contest, either, so no winners, no losers, just a good record for friends musically emancipatory music. Finally I got one point of critique: the instrumental interlude and outro, who made’em? I couldn’t find no info about that… ps: nice artwork, lots of yellow!  [jan]
