Denovali, the western german screamo specialists, got a new 7” out. This time it is two Californian bands who ask for the next dance.
Efra from Paso Robles near Monterey (a place I know from “the three investigators”) start the round with an ever augmenting but rather average instrumental and than boost a fast piece of scremo that is like maybe Raein with a turbo boost and that long snare roll is fucking excellent. Long passages have just a simple punk rock beat but a) this kicks so much ass and b) this makes the breaks even more breaking. Good one!
Seeing Means More from the bay area have a rather mosh meets postrock approach and switch between neck breaking and dream weaving and their second song “bernadette protti” (use google to find out more about the story behind the name!) is the hit on this piece of wax. I’d like to if they are personally involved into the case of Bernadette. The thanks list alludes to it at least… It’s been long since I liked a song with such a metal edge that much! What a symphony…
So both bands got one okay and one hit song which makes a total of two hits and this is twice what it takes to make a 7” worth buying in my eyes. There is also a copied booklet with lyrics and the record got a limitation to the funny number of exactly 508. Please check these bands out!
