The Die Is Cast are from Germany and play some sort of emo/indierock.
So far nobody gets hurt but well that is just the point: nobody gets hurt. There is nothing special about this record. The band is really playing well and the songs are far from bad but there is neither individuality to be found nor the big, unfuckwithable hooklines you simply gotta obey.
Lyrics about interpersonal stuff are great but these seem rather impersonal and not derived from personal experience. The music, too, seems arbitrary being just as close to Samiam as it is to Nickleback. Here and there are really nice parts with beautiful guitar figures like in “on the inside” but moments like these are rare. And when the distortion paddle is hit everything gets lost. The sound got completely streamlined in the mastering process (or elsewhen). Ironed flat, compressed till death and all liveliness erased. Which is really a pity because the parts without distortion got a really pleasant and descent sound.
I’m used to hearing better, read more individual and interesting, music out of the millipede house… Before you hit a record studio again go listen to some Rites Of Spring or Fiya to learn how it sounds like when music is really emotional. This record reminds me of Fury In The Slaughterhouse…
