New Mexican Disaster Squad
New Mexican Disaster Squad
don't believe - cd
jade tree
New Mexican Disaster Squad were support for Strike Anywhere on the tour where I didn’t see them and now I missed them again on their tour with Paint It Black. However I don’t know if I’ve missed too much…

The new record is really solid hardcore/punk with one foot deep in the 80s, they are fast as fuck and got nice lead guitars. Seems like everything is settled for my new favourite band but somehow it isn’t. I wouldn’t even say they were aping some other band although thinking of Strike Anywhere gives you a pretty good impression. They pretty much found their own tiny path. Their political lyrics are nice as well or at least it is nice that they try to speak about more than girls and cars. “wasting matches” is a really good song. Somehow I just like other punk bands better I guess.

What I really like is the colours of the cover artwork. Totally fucking awesome. You got to see it in reality and daylight. You cannot sense that through the internet. Putting the neon back into hardcore.  [jan]
