Many, many years ago I played with my band on a festival at a farm near my hometown. One of the other bands that night was 3rd Degree Burn with the very Arne who is now playing bass in Just Went Black. Well this band back than had just released a split cd with a band called Woof that I saw years later at the Flora in Hamburg probably with Burden from Vancouver and a band that sounded more like black metal than like hardcore. Maybe it was a totally different night but who fucking cares?
Well now Woof got a new longplayer out that is currently spinning in my cd player. The discography on the info sheet is really shocking. They have been on almost thirty compilations in their about eight years of history. Busy guys!
The first song “smalltown boredom fighting” says they still believe that what they do with their band is the right thing and well isn’t that one of the key things about hardcore? Objectively I have to say that they are really damn tight and well produced. The punk edge does fit their old school hardcore well, too. Lyrics are fine. Artwork is fine. Nothing to complain if you like hardcore the way it has always been. Not my cup of tea right now but if wasn’t bored to death of hardcore this record would land on my playlist I guess as it is way better than many, many other records that are advertised more intensely… If you want a catchy phrase take this one: sounds like Comeback Kid minus stadium rock plus skateboards.
ps: if you search for "woof" at google pictures you get some cute pics of dogs...
