I spent the last fifteen minutes with sitting in front of my laptop and trying to find out hwo the hell this band’s name is spelled. The cd artwork, the myspace site and the band info say “familea” but their homepage and almost all other sources say “familia”. I guess there are things of greater importance. Names are but hollow words.
Let’s talk about music now. This band got a classical rock trio line up but in many songs they are backed by additional instruments like piano or saxophone. If to categorized I guess this should be labelled posthardcore or noisy indie. Think of the more experimental phases of Fugazi or of The Ex to get a general idea. Kinda groovy and dodgy and not for background listening purposes. This might very well be considered art and despite considering myself punk this is not meant to be an insult.
In germany they are distributed by Coraille and slowly but surely this seems to become a seal of quality for offside post whatever music. Marius, you must here the synthscapes on track six! I only wonder if the mistakes in the song title “mein blut ist kalter getranke” are on purpose or a coincident. Nice artwork, too, and worth a check out if you like music that is challenging and fit to broaden your listening habits. Off of worn out paths.
