GTUK is magnificent. In times where the hc/punk scene is consisting of repetition, imitation and total lack of individuality this one man pink tank army shines like a red star in a sky of boredom. What a stupid metaphor…
For those who never heard of it, I’ll give short description of what to expect: a guy with a bike helmet screaming into a child’s tape recorder microphone that distorts his voice accompanied by repetitive keyboard lines and uptempo beats right between your old c64 and a gabber party in Rotterdam. Or in other words: Imagine Scooter or Captain Jack were a) diy punks and b) cooler than allowed by the police. Just damn fucking awesome!
For those who already know what we are dealing with here: GTUK has broadened his style quite derbe. First of all he discovered midtempo and varies the speed of his songs much more than on his previous outputs. He also uses rather clean vocals and real a real singing voice every now and then. The sound has improved on all levels, more density, better keys, better and fatter beats. Well done!
Plus the artwork is really beautiful and very unique. The booklet is nice and contains lyrics and liner notes. He greets three Jans there. Is one of them me? I also appreciate that the numeration in the booklets as well as the info are done with a real typewriter. That’s diy as fuck and speaks the passion that this cd gives off. Music can be so much more than just a product!
