Right now I am sitting here I know I should better prepare for the French test tomorrow morning. Well, somehow I don’t but at least I listen to a French band.
This French band is Jordan. My concert group once made a show with them but I was out of town. They were said to have been good. Now they are back on tour with Ampl:tude. Tonight they’ll play here in Hamburg. I like both bands but I feel I won’t go there. My head is full of French…
However both bands are good and I really like the new Jordan cd. They are unique in what they do without doing anything all new at all. It is just the way they do it and which elements they combine that makes the picture when they blend the darkness of Interpol, the pop appeal of so many indie bands and the trashy sexiness of The Make-Up. They got no bass guitar. Still they have a tight groove and the keyboards add the depths that lack because of the absence of the four strings.
This band sounds like energetic dances in dusky basements where sweat is dripping from the roof. Very pop and very now!
