Tubers are from Florida and are a good band. What else could I expect from a band involved with The Company With The Golden Arm?
They play in a classic rock trio line up with bass, guitar, drums and everyone giving a cheer. If I had to label their music I’d be in some trouble because I can’t. I would describe them as a mix of Wipers and The Lapse where the former deliver the darkness and the directness while the latter add the sound and that special nerdy extra thing. The songs are in average two and a half minutes and pretty much leaned on rock/pop songwriting. However their unique sound with its almost clean guitars and the many disharmonies make them sound everything but today’s radio. The overall mood is something like a pissed off nothing-makes-sense-really. It reminds me a bit of that scene in this “romeo + juliet” movie where Romeo aka. Leo DiCaprio just killed Mercutio. The dark clouds over the beach amusement resort are pretty much what this band would sound like if sound was a picture.
If this is too cryptic for you, you might as well think of post-revolution summer DC. Unpretentious and unagitated. I regret that I missed them on their euro tour…
