Kleinstadthelden are a good band and they are writing good, catchy songs with a certain pop appeal. As far as the music is concerned there is not much to scathe here.
Once again the foursome that was once hailing from Osterholz-Scharmbeck near Bremen and has now left suburbia itself has written a couple of indie rockish emo/pop punk tunes with good melodies and hooks and everything. Thumbs up for this! However there is something I totally dislike about this thing…
Somehow I got the feeling that Kleinstadthelden want to leave diy behind like they left behind their small town past. The full colour info quotes musicians of Kettcar and Schrottgrenze and namedrops support shows for Muff Potter and Madsen. Wow! I am impressed. Is this what matters? And why does the band have a management now? And what for? Their manager wrote me that he is looking for a “record company” for the band. Sorry, but in my niche “record company” is a swearword. I don’t want no “companies” and I don’t want no “managements”. I want friends that help friends and a scene of mutual support! I don’t want no capitalism on a smaller scale, I want an alternative! If you want to make your career, go ahead but count me out!
Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t talk about sell out and backstabbing here. I am totally fine with bands trying to make it. It is just that I am not interested in things like these. There is so many things out there that are way more interesting and that touch me way more than bands trying to become successful… And after all every band whose name is dropped here is sort of negative advertisement. Kettcar and Muff Potter are in a creative dead end and Madsen just suck. I don’t like Schrottgrenze either but I know that Renke does so they can’t be all wrong because Renke got a good taste in music… Sorry, my little small town heroes, I think we drifted apart from each other. Good luck anyway!
