Wow, what a long name and it’s not even screamo…
Here we go with another singer-songwriteresque production from Sweden. This time we are facing a duo from Götborg that delivers melancholy tunes wrapped up in tremolo guitars, pianos, low profile drumming and some more. Singer Malin Dahlberg’s vocals are outstanding and very touching. The songs are arranged in a beautiful and intimate way. However I cannot really agree on the info’s comparisons to Cat Power or Stina Nordenstam. For the former they aren’t quirky enough and for the latter they (thankfully) lack the esoteric something. I’d rather compare them to Boy Omega or Musika 77 but without the country touch. My favourite description out of all the rubbish in my head is probably: an analogue version of Lali Puna.
I do also like what is written about the songs in the info but I have to comment on some things here. Firstly “the trick is to breathe” is a quote from “the lord of the rings”. That dwarf Gimli says it once somewhere on a mountain I think. And “the line is a dot to you” is pretty much exactly what the optician told me about my eyes when I got my glasses. Corneal curvature they call it. But I guess there is very few people interested in this, eh? However: Good ep, looking forward to the full length later this year. Only small minus is the lack of attached lyrics. I love lyrics… [jan]
