Beatniks were the people in the fifties who were into jazz music, poetry and smoking weed. So what are Electric Beatniks? Well as far as the attached info goes it is one guy of Man vs. Nature and one guy of the famous Computerjockeys uniting their powers to create headstrong electronic music.
To use a stupid metaphor I’d describe this record as the most far-off foothills of the dancefloor mountains. The eleven tracks are all more or less danceable but something tells me that disco in which they might be played are very rare. The beats sound like an evil bontempi organ and the synths aren’t too ordinary as well. A lot of weird sounds, samples and bits of vocals. In many cases I am not quite sure if it is guitars or synths that I hear. Listening to it I imagine watching some stupid 60s teen movies totally revamped and dismembered. This would be the perfect soundtrack for such a spectacle. It’s all pretty unique, a little disturbing and very well done. But honestly I can’t imagine too many situations in which I would enjoy listening to it. I think the perfect situation would be doing a door shift at a party in your local squat when it is half past four in the morning, you haven’t slept in two days and now you have at least four club mate in your bloodstream. Oh, and play it loud for full pleasure!
