Last years’ revival of traditional early 80’ies hardcore punk brought the scene refreshing bands like Regulations, The Vicious or Fucked Up. In the same vein, Press Gang is recalling the glorious days of Orange County punkrock. Sure, no cup for musical inventions will be handed out to these guys who didn’t deny their – too obvious - influences (i.e. Descendents, Adolescents or Circle Jerks). But instead of intellectualizing their musical heritage we should enjoy their catchy and hook-laden song – arrangements and the youthful playfulness pouring from every bit of this record. The uncompromising punk aggression of “cold breath” or the subtle and melodic guitar-bass interplay in “n sleep” promise a great future for these young punks from Münster. [phillip]
