Antitainment are back. Weird as always. Awesome as always.
All in all the new record is a consequent development of what they set in motion on “gymnasistik” and brought to full bloom on “cooler plattentitel”. In my eyes Antitainment are one of the most individualist hardcore bands worldwide. Their combination of break-intense hardcore songwriting with an organ as lead instrument and synthetic and other gimmicks every now and then is just a brilliant idea. Every song got its own personal note and many of them are hits.
So what has changed? It’s mostly details. The vocals, the beats, the guitars and the synths just sound a whole lot better than on the previous releases. The record has a great sound and an awesome overall presence. And the some of the lyrics reach a whole new level. While there is still a lot of songs about stuff like water rides, scene and music and all that, songs like “sechsstagewoche gummimann” and “unkonkret vs. wahllos” got a totally radical political message behind their rather cryptic lyrics. And by the way both songs got awesome singalong parts.
One of the most interesting hardcore records in months. Oh, and before I forget to give some side blows: Everyone who thinks this is less hardcore than let’s say Have Heart or Another Breath just read the lyrics of “true till bored to death”, a song whose idea and tag line have already been stolen by NeinNeinNein and are true as fuck! Antitainment = maximum humour combined with innovative music. Last words: the next one who compares this awesome band to crap like Horse The Band just because they both have synths (like they did on dosenmusik) risks losing his/her punk licence along with some teeth!
