Once upon a time I had the idea to open up an independent chill out club where all those indie people could come when their indie club is closing and let their night fade out with sounds between Tunng and Tori Amos. Well, as you might guess I never really started this club but I am sure that either this thing does already exist somewhere or something like this will open soon. All my good ideas are realized by someone else one day. Like the new Die Ärzte video…
Anyway if I had open a chill out club SDNMT or Seidenmatt would be played quite frequently. Their new record has the ultimate warm like a sofa cushion sound. But it’s so much more than just ambient noise or stuff. There is really a lot happening. Guitars that remind me of early North Of America, very progressive drumming, cool samples, loops and synths and a charming bass form a very delightful music. It is mostly instrumental but whenever the vocals kick in they totally make sense. I also love the cello every now and then.
Really a good record. Imagine a mix of Espers and Notwist to get a very rough impression. The artwork is beautiful and the title is so damn fucking great! I’d love any record with a title like this but I’m grateful that SDNMT make it easy for me to love this one.
