Captain Planet
Captain Planet
wasser kommt wasser geht - lp/cd
unterm durchschnitt
Imagine a dike in Dithmarschen and a heartbroken teenager on a moped riding on it, earplugs plugged in, volume at maximum and screaming along with his favourite band in order to get over just having been dumped for the first time. Of course we don’t know what she or he is listening to but I like the thought that it might be Captain Planet. Thos band is like the perfect soundtrack for building you up when you are down. They have this supreme mix of a fundamental melancholia and an unshakable optimism. The beautiful harmonies and melodies in the guitars are just awesome and feel like home. The drums are straight forward and keep the energy level high all the way through the album. Finally singer Arne’s heavenly voice sounds like it was made to save lives. Perfect intonation, superb vocal lines and an expression that simply makes you believe in every word he’s singing. The lyrics are brilliant too and full of awesome metaphors. The artwork by singer Arne von Twistern himself is beautiful as well and makes it worth buying the vinyl to have it in maximum size. I really love this band and it feels good to know that somewhere up there in cold and rainy Hamburg there is still some people who keep writing song that can bring you through the night. The only “negative” thing I can say about this is that as brilliant as this record is their best song is still (and will always be) “baumhaus” from the 7”!  [jan]
