Last Night Favorite
Last Night Favorite
after all these years - cd
fear the crowd
I remember a time in the year 2000 when me and all my friends slagged this trend called „emo“. After the amazing early releases of Jimmy Eat World and the Get Up Kids it seemed like every band wanted to imitate this sound. All of a sudden there were short living emo bands founding in every suburb and small ville. On nearly every show we had to bear some of these so called emo bands as support acts.

After all the years the trend "emo" is still there. Nevertheless it changed from an underground phenomenon to a mainstream movement. Today the influential bands are Coheed & Cambria, Aiden, Bullet For My Valentine, Caliban and similar artists. This band from Idar-Oberstein / Bad-Kreuznach is one of the epigones. Calm emotional parts meet with metalcore-riffs which are so plain produced that they don't attract attention in the whole context of this five track debut EP. Although Last Nights Favorite obviously scream for changes and about finding your own personal way (like many classic punk / hardcore bands did in the past) they bring us only a worn-out music, fashion and artwork scheme. To me this is neither punk / hardcore nor is this exciting music. [benni]
