There are a lot of bassist and drummer duos around but most of them like Sabot and La Casa Fantom are playing rather fiddly and dodgy music demanding a lot of attention from their listeners. Jack Fucking Twist are different. They are catchy. It’s like pop music for advanced listeners. The instrumentals manoeuvre somewhere between postpunk and posthardcore while the two singing voices of Greg and Cindy add some hooklines and give the whole thing a unique flavour.
The band was founded by two millionaires at a millionaires’ tennis club. However their music would excellently suit a sweaty dance party in a squat basement. If only punks were a little more into dancing… I love the sound of the record. Especially the bass sounds awesome. You can almost feel the steel the strings are made of. Brilliant debut!
