I remember The 244GL as a band that always annihilated pretty much everything once they entered a stage and I can’t imagine how anyone couldn’t at least be impressed by the technical steamrolling of the band. So I was quite surprised to read in the record’s inlay that no label wanted to released it at first. How could that be? I mean, read our reviews. Labels seems to be releasing almost every shitty band today as long they can distinguish a guitar from a keyboard…
The record finally came out via Fiese Asseln Youth Crew and Smell The Glove, a label co-founded by one band member. It would have been really sad if this piece of whatever you want to call it had been lost on the band members’ hard discs till eternity. The artwork alone is more than enough a reason for this record being released!
The music is somewhere between mathcore and scandinavian death metal. Like Botch and Meshuggah and Dark Tranqulity and Acrid playing a show together. All at the same time. It is dark, it is aggressive and full of energy. It is metal and it is not. You can mosh to it and you can as well decapitate your nazi neighbour. It also reminds me of the mixtapes Hannes of A Fine Boat That Coffin got in his car. Needless to say that he got an awesome taste in music. Awesome but a little weird. Just like The 244GL.
