First of all I don't understand why this new band from Stuttgart, Germany uses the same name like a well-known californian youth crew band on Youngblood Records. It's not uncommon for different punk / hardcore bands to use the same name because they've never heard of each other. However after the european tour of the californian straight edge band in 2005 every hardcore kid should have heard of this band. Maybe this new band got inspired by a flyer in a local youth centre while searching for their bandname in 2006?!
Fortunately this band plays no youth crew hardcore like their american namesakes. The Angry Samoans song „lights out“ was definetely more inspiration for bandname and sound. Lights Out don't hide their influences and try to replay the same fast and angry sound but twenty years later. In terms of sound it works out perfectly just some of the songs don't sweep along like the originals yet. Finally, this is just their debut, let´s see what time brings us...
If you aren't familiar with the Angry Samoans think of the similar sounding Dean Dirg whose bassist Thorsten designed the artwork of this release. [benni]
