The first show my old concert group in Hamburg set up was for this band and even though I don’t remember anymore why we chose them I still remember that they were great and that we gladly invited them again some time later. Their latest output, a full length on Altin Village is their best record up to now. Powerful songs with four voices intertwined driven by multiple changes in rhythm and frickeling guitars. Absolutely idiosyncratic.

The songs are pretty different from one another ranging from almost full on hardcorepunk to passages the Intro might call indie. The whole thing is kept together by an overall basic feeling of urgency and a general aesthetic of hardcore for people wearing glasses. Nerdcore maybe?

Great artwork, brilliant record title and the lyrics are great, too. Speaking of personal experiences and ideas in a stream of consciousness technique way mostly they are very direct and totally indirect at the same point of time. Often I got no clue what they want to say but together with the music they create an atmosphere that makes me feel like I understood everything. And “here’s a pen, here’s some paper, stop complaining, create your own art” is probably some of the best last words on a record ever.  [jan]
