Trip Fontaine
Trip Fontaine
dinosaurs in rocketships - lp/cd
zeitstrafe
redfield
Some time ago I had helped setting up a show for Trip Fontaine in Hamburg and they were good, really good. But this record is so fucking much better. No wonder the vinyl came out on Zeitstrafe…

Trip Fontaine combine posthardcore with indie and pop in a way so unique as hardly any band since At The Drive-In has done. A postmodern fusion of catchy guitars, diverse songwriting, nerdish creativity and awesome vocals. It’s like The Zombies had come back to teach the posthardcore circus pop. The band successfully avoids sounding like any other band. Whenever you think you got a good comparison they come up with something new that destroys the picture. The guitars with all their intertwined melodies are wow and the occasional vocal harmony singing is the little extra that sets them apart from the rest.

It is basically pop songs that are way too intelligent for average pop consumers and I love it. As long as d.i.y. keeps coming up with amazing stuff like this there is still hope. One of the top ten records this year no matter what else is gonna come.
