Some years ago I used to listen to more stuff like this. My friend Jan would call this hardcore hardcore. Imagine what that means? Once again, Solid Ground from Switzerland don't hide their examples on their second full length release. Think of Hardcore in the vein of Judge with some early Terror influences minus the tough-guy attitude. „can't stop now“ delivers 15 harsh and New York influenced hardcore songs with lots of back-up shoutings. These Swiss kids play in bands for more than ten years (i.e. Blue Water Boy and Crush My Calm) now and know how to handle their instruments in a tight way. A great production tops the impressions off.
Since founding Solid Ground in 2003 there were obviously very few changes. From the beginning the members seemingly knew clearly what kind of sound they want to create. Since then they follow a certain path to bring their music to perfection. Yes - call this solid work! Now Solid Ground are definitely one of the leading European acts playing this kind of „retro“ hardcore sound however it is not my cup of tea. „bringing it down“ from Judge is still one of the best classic hardcore records of all time to me but I enjoyed too many followers during the past years.
