I don't get the point about the fifths album of this Slovenia based
band. The flashy artwork shows a nude and handcuffed woman with a knife
stuck in her ass and laying in a puddle of blood. I wouldn't call myself
pc or whatever but this is definitely too much. Surely the artwork
attracts attention even though it's not shocking like punkrock was at
the end of the 70ies. There is so much obscene violence on screens that
this artwork only remains to be distasteful. Why do a female fronted
band represents itself by such a picture? The abscence of printed lyrics in the
artwork or the enclosed promo sheet don't remedate my perplexity.
Psycho-Path deliver some average alternative rock tunes fronted by a
charismatic, harsh female singer. Imagine a mix of Girls Against Boys,
Sonic Youth, Queens Of The Stone Age and the Cranberries. This is solid
work whereas there were better bands playing this style of music some
time ago. Seems a bit like eastern European artists still remain
excluded by the movements of the international music scene. Regarding
the artwork and the musical averageness I doubt this release will
ever find its way to my CD player again. [benni]
