Egotronic
kotzen / raven gegen deutschland - mp3
audiolith
Egotronic got a new mp3 single out and once again the enemy is Germany or rather the new hooray-patriotism. Well, of course this is an important issue and what Egotronic say is 100% correct. However music isn’t message alone but also, well, music. And “kotzen” is not better than average. Torsun and Co. already put out a lot of tracks that were way better.

One thing I don’t get at all is the Walter Schreifels feature on the title tracks. His vocals don’t add the slightest thing to the song. I’d even say it would be better without them. Anyway, it’s a good thing that the band takes a stand and speaks out against this emetic bullshit patriotism revival in this shitty country. What is rather funny in my eyes is that they sing about deutschpunk while their own lyrics get closer and closer to the plainness level of this very genre…

Apart from “kotzen” the single offers three remixes and the album version of “raven gegen deutschland” that might already be called a modern classic. Not only because they sold about 10000 shirts with this slogan but also because the song kicks ass seriously. The Frittenbude remix is more something like a whole new song and it is the secret hit on this record and a real reason to get your hands on it. All new lyrics and a dancy beat. Killer! The Saint Pauli remix is very rave and some tight shit. Juri Gagarin’s remix comes along in their soviet techno signature style and got some catchy melodies. Both good but at least one or two levels below the Frittenbude version…

Final words: If Egotronic continue to adjust their style to their uniformed macker antifa sunglasses-at-night and speed-instead-of-books audience this might be their last release worth listening to. Let’s hope they’ll get a grip!  [jan]
