The two bands on this split 7“ are really very different from one another. Attack Vipers! Hail from Portsmouth in the UK and play pretty angry and raging hardcore punk with vocals that kill vocal chords. Their two songs are rather fast and pretty good but I think they’d be even better with a more prominent guitar sound. The nice guitar leads seem to hide behind the vocals and the rhythm section somehow and I don’t know why they should…
Young Livers sound like they’d come from Gainesville/Florida and they do come from Gainesville/Florida. Anthemic vocals sung by several voices that sound like years of whiskey abuse meet energetic emotional hc/punk with varied drumming and good guitar arrangements. If you like this kind of music you will like this song. Period. I played two shows with them on their euro tour and they were really nice people and fun to hang out with. Thumbs up!
The link that connects the to bands on this piece of vinyl is the emo component in their music. They both sound like they really mean it and like they don’t just play for fun but for something more important. Catharsis maybe? The artwork is excellent, too. So I don’t see why you should check this record (and the bands’ full lengths) out.
