A Fine Boat That Coffin used to be Calling Gina Clark and I always enjoyed their shows, now they are one person more and by that have two guitars now. The music is still quite the same. Screamochaoscore with a metal edge and a jazzy vibe. Short songs with a lot content each, many different parts and only few of them appear more than once. This is for the kids who comprehended that punk is not repetition but alteration.

There is a lot of great and less great screamo bands out there right now and it would be a big mistake to put A Fine Boat That Coffin into the very same drawer. They relate to them a bit like Meshuggah relate to bands like Destruction or Death related to bands like Orbituary. They all push things way further and unsettle even experienced metalheads or hardcore kids. If this was metal it would come out on Relapse but this is still hardcore at heart. This belongs into basements and squats. This is far too dangerous for concert halls and high gloss magazines. This is emancipatory in a way that the music emancipates itsself from static designs. Great artwork also. Mayhemic, chaotic and still well structured and on point. In a better world music like this would be called art but to this world it is rather a threat because it demonstrates that another music is possible. Fuck easy listening! [jan]
