GTUK
GTUK
illusions to the max - cd
fiese asseln youth crew
GTUK is back with yet another release. The musical direction is still a mix of digital grindcore and 8bit aesthetics. Sometimes I wonder how much longer this recipe is gonna work out… But for the moment it still does.

The thing that elevates this record above the level of its predecessors is the significant improvement in songwriting. The songs are generally more elaborate and more variable while the keyboard melodies are a little better than on the previous releases. “du nimmst mir zu viel vor!” for example got some very, very fine melodies to offer. Many of these keyboard lines remind me of good old c64 game music (especially “dream2”) with the difference that here they got a foundation of some solid beats. Song titles and lyrics (= the stuff in the booklet that you could never understand in the songs themselves) are good as always. If you are down with crazy electronic music or if you want to freak out your neighbours and flatmates by spinning this record at maximum volume then go check it out.  [jan]
