Kettcar are back to fill the giant footprints they themselves left with their classic first lp and the signs point further towards pop. The range of lyrics has widened as this time it is more than just feelings but also politics („deiche“) and kinda nonsense („stockhausen, bill gates und ich“) but the highlights are still situated right in between love and loneliness. „balu“ is really beautiful manifesto for the modest love and „48 stunden“ contains a line that already changed the lives of more people than Marcus Wiebusch might have expected: „mach immer was dein herz dir sagt“ („always do what your heart is telling you“). Having heard this song live really gave me the shivers, absolute intensity.
Unfortunately about half of the songs on this record are not as good. Alltogether it is no classic record as the the first one was. It's rather okay than oh my god. Maybe it just needs time to grow. I'll tell you in a year or so. Untill than: „mach immer was dein herz dir sagt“! [jan]
