This is the second record of Squartet from Italy that I get to review and as far as I can tell not much has changed. The band still played freaking, weird jazzcore with a lot more jazz than core and they are still pretty mind blowing. They remind me of A Fine Boat That Coffin minus the screamo elements. This kind of music has got a lot more to do with the world as it is today than 90% of all hardcore bands in the past ten years had. Not exactly my cup of tea right now but I’ll give the cd to Christian (bass player in Machete), one of my flatmates and if he doesn’t like it I will give him angry looks!
Oh, there is indeed one thing that has changed: The artwork is way, way better this time. It is actually really good. And with good I don’t mean “wow, it’s pink!” but there is a booklet with illustrations and some sort of liner notes or wise words for every song. If you like jazz then come and love Squartet!
