The record starts off with the song from the current video „kennedy“ which is quite a hit but gets outplayed by far by the second one „lawinenhund“ which has a floorfilling beat and a beautifully funny refrain (plus one of the coolest lines ever sung about foosball). To me the best song on this record. Another smasher is „theke mit den toten“, a candy sweet manifesto against carnivorism. Who would have expected so much attitude on such a pop album? The song „bungeeseil“ is so over the top pop cliche and dripping of sugarwater that everyone else but Jens Friebe would get killed for it but that is just the point. Jens indeed can do stuff like this! It doesn't sound constructed, it sound honest and straight from the heart. It works. When he sings „teilst du mit mir eine von den jungstoiletten?“ (would you share one of the boys' toilets?) with such an implicitness on „abend voller glück“ this is on the one hand touching and on the other hand such a big middlefinger against all those macho fuckers out there. Help, it's a lovesong! Doublehelp, it is fabric softener pop! Triblehelp, above all it also gay!

I really love it! Whenever I get bored of aggressive or artistically ambitious music Jens Friebe is one of my first choices and to state that: This record can indeed concur with the last one although not all songs are direct hits. Yet the hit quota is fairly high. Finest electrodriven indiepop but please save us from freeloaders. I don't think we need a wave of indieschlager but we need Jens Friebe, oh yes, we do... [jan]
