Somehow I got misleaded. I expected to have bought some sort of funny thrashcore 7“ and now I sit here and listen over and over to a piece of vinyl filled with something much better. Both bands play some sort of hardcore that seems to be heavily influenced by contemporary american negicore such as Some Girls, Panic, Give Up The Ghost or other usual suspects. Distortion is at maximum and the singers are screaming like there was no need for talking afterwards.
The Swords are more of the chaotic type especially the last song „sixty seconds damnation“ dealing with the well known but still true „meat is murder“-topic which is a real midtempo breaker with a noisy final. Even voice and bass are distorted here. They have also put some nice manifesto for a new vegan straight edge apart from worn out clichés by the lyrics in the coversleeve. Being one of the kind myself I can only nod in approval especially as the finish the text with the words „still pink“!
The Facts on the flipside are more of the straightforward and foot on the accelarator kind. Songwritingwise their material is more classic hardcore oriented and they are also heavily raging. Their lyrics are more about personal stuff and well let's say not so optimistic.
Hey, this shit really kicks ass! I really can't decide which band is more awesome. Thank Sid, punk is no contest! Since the Italian Stallion 7“ no other 7" release from erope has made me more enthusiastic than this one. Middlefingers and pointing fingers in the air!!! [jan]
