demo - cdr
ape must not kill ape
I am not too much into demos maybe that is because nowadays there aren't too many demos around anyway. Most bands just put their stuff online or even directly do a regular release. But as far as I can judge judge and as far as the word itself is defined, this is a really good demo, in fact better than many so called regular releases. Well the sound is not hifi premium shit but in times where many bands rather sound too clean than too dirty this is not even a negative point I think...

The band features Marianne of Ape must not kill ape records fame who also kinda released this one. The music that is offered is intense screamo that rather leans towards the 90s screamo than today's scene as it has a much stronger punkrock edge which is mainly in the drumming but also in the lack of breakdown and the typical someone is singing and than everyone is screaming again dramaturgy. My band played with them in Homburg and we all were from the start impressed by the intensity and immediateness the band created. Most of which is also transfered to this piece of plastic. The lyrics are in german and good as well mostly kinda personal but the song „mensch“ with his earth rights radicalism has a real 90's northcore charme and this with a band so far of the sea as switzerland!

I also really like the chimes in the first song „was du willst“. More chimes in hardcore! I'm definitely looking forward to their show in Hamburg in march and to their first „regular“ release! One last word about the artwork that is really cool d.i.y. Made of cardboard and stenciled and got a lot of handicraft in it. But as this is pretty hard cardboard and it is only a cdr, you better take good care of it not getting scratched or too dirty and if you cary it around you might better use a regular cd case. This will also help protecting this excellent artwork that is done with so much love! [jan]
