To my own shame I must confess that I saw Dackelblut years ago in Kaltenkirchen with Steakknife and I thought they sucked. Now years later and a lot wiser I know I was wrong. Jens Rachut is king and so is his current band Oma Hans. The latest output „peggy“ again is a direct hit, twelve songs in classic j-beat-style with Jens' unique kind of lyrics and the unavoidable female backings containg hits like „die mole“ or „königin der u-boot stadt“. If you liked the other Oma Hans records you will for sure like this one as well, but all the morons who still don't get it will hate it just as they hated every other record he was involved in.
The only big minus is the song „gummiwände“, some kind of diss track against their local rivals Kettcar. Not only is the song the worst on the whole lp (or cd, as this for the first time is no vinyl only release), but to me it appeares really childish to disrespect another band just because they left „the path of true punk“. Kettcar still play benefit shows at the Rote Flora and never sold themselves to some major label but started their own label d.i.y.. Just because the music is pop the musicians don't have to be poppers. The song sounds like bitter outstreched tongue of a bitter old man... But I generously try to forget this for the grandious coverartwork showing four cliché turkish hip hop boys from some snackbar in Ottensen. This is anti art at its best! [jan]
