I saw Orthrelm as spport of The Locust on their second to last european tour and i was damn impressed. In fact The Locust kinda seemed rather poppish after this mindblowing attack. Half an hour one guy with a guitar and another one with an enlightened drumkit played something like a constant double solo and you never knew wether this was improvisation or just one giant song. After checking their records I found out that it must have been approximately 30-60 songs that they played and again I was impressed by this huge memory effort.

Now the band is back with another record and this time this is really just one song but one with a running time of 45 minutes. It is so unsettling. The first 15 minutes they play almost the same amazingly fast riff and beat all the fucking time. It really freaks you out. This is redefining listening habit. Then they come up with another part that is just twice as unsettling and weird and another one and another one. So far so good so same procedure as last year but then they manage to break it all down. The drums interupt their ever rolling blast and the guitar fades from a manic tapping fugue to a short quiet passage but all this just come up with another fatal blast with disturbing tom rolls and one furioso riff hunting the last one.

This is so fucking amazing. This is the proof that music can still be art and not just entertainment. However I seem to be retared enough to really enjoy this. I could even imagine dancing to this. Every musician must love this and should stick this up the asses of everyone who whorships Yngwie Malmsteen. I gotta find the vinyl version somewhere! Smile till yor ears bleed... [jan]
