The cover artwork promises a worst case scenario. I expect bad metalcore with pseudo-emotional whiny refrains but I’m glad my prejudices misled me. What I got when putting the silver disc into my stereo was decent emotional punk rock in the vein of Hot Water Music and Co. After having listened to the stuff a few times I cannot help but somehow like it. Especially track three “jane” is a small hit that will for sure spin in a lot of punk rock discos in near future.
The info says something about band members formerly been involved with Kid Dynamite and Trial by Fire. I guess with a background like this there isn’t much do be done wrong if you want to play melodic punk rock and so this record is absolutely a solid album without a single blackout. I don’t think I really need this record because there is already a good bunch of similar records whose names are carved into my heart but I’m very sure that this one will carve its name into a whole lot of hearts because there is just not a single thing wrong with it. Good songs, good sound engineered by some guy who also produced Strike Anywhere and Hot Water Music and lyrics about all the little emotional times of trouble we all lurch through all the time. Oh, and the singer got a very good singing voice. This one will find its friends!
