After months of work:
YITNP launches "behind the lenses - a series on visual arts"!
"Ever noticed this tiny subtitle on our main page?! "Life is art, be creative" was one of our guidelines when we started yellowisthenewpink.com some years ago. Behind the lenses is a series focussing on being creative in the music scene (in the broadest sense) without sticking around in a band. This run of interviews is about the art of flattening the three dimensional space in which all music takes place into the two dimensions of a photograph.
Sure, today’s torrent of images reached undreamt of quantities: no concert without hundreds of flashlights, band photos on every zine’s page, massive pictorial postings on every messageboard, not to talk of flickr, myspace or youtube. Yet a small quotient of photographers is worth to speak of while the majority falls into digital camera clichés: as they focus on snapshots of stage acting, bands posing and rocking out only. No aestaetical surplus is achieved, hence only a evanescent amount of pictures is actually worth to talk of.
Behind the lenses is basically about creating a platform for those photographers who stand out of this ocean of boredom and get them talking about their work, their inspiration and their aims. No matter if it is a professional, a poor punk kid or a d.i.y. activist ten thousand miles away."
Starting with an interview with photgrapher Thomas Reitmayer (Glow In The Dark Magazin) we will bring you one new interview every month! [benni]
